ood Queen Bess ruled England and William Shakespeare had published the first of his plays when the timbers that were to form the Old Cage were being shaped.  They of course are long gone but the Cage has developed and survives.
Today it is a fine example of an English country inn, extensively refurbished with exposed beams, flagstone floors, and a fine collection of brass and copper artifacts.  There is an inglenook and log fire in winter and flowers abound in summer.

From humble beginnings the Cage now provides restaurant and accommodation facilities to compliment the bar.  Lingfield itself is an historic village with an ancient church and a mention in the Doomsday Book of 1068.  It is ideally situated with Gatwick airport some 12 miles away and the train connection to London takes approximately 45 minutes.  There are however numerous places of historic and general interest in the vacinity.

Whatever your requirements we will be pleased to assist you.
